Born and raised in Detroit with Mexican roots, JANSØ is an emerging techno artist making his debut on Blank Code. Drawing inspiration from the rhythms that surrounded him growing up, he incorporates subtle influences from Hispanic musical traditions into a driving, atmospheric techno sound rooted in groove and movement.
Los Angeles-based Truncate has become a global staple. From releasing on labels like Droid Recordings with Drumcell, as well as his own influential Truncate Records imprint, he is a perceptive professional who embodies the tastemaker tag, and his music can be found on leading labels like Sven Väth’s Cocoon, Len Faki’s Figure, Chris Liebing’s CLR, Ben Sims’ Hardgroove, James Ruskin’s Blueprint, Kr!z’s Token, and beyond.

The M Compilation series is a various artists project launched around the time of Movement Festival in Detroit. The first release, M1, came out in 2015, with additional editions appearing over the years. Previous compilations have featured artists such as Luis Flores, Takaaki Itoh, Annie Hall, Truncate, Lindsey Herbert, Drumcell, and others.
For Blank Code, Movement has always felt like a family reunion for the label, by hosting events during the festival since its second year, when it was still called the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, or DEMF. Over the years it has become a moment when friends, artists, and collaborators from around the world come together in Detroit. The M Compilation series was created as a way to bring those artists together on a shared project that reflects the spirit of that weekend and the community that forms around it each year.

American born, now Germany-based, Bill Youngman joins the illustrious Blank Code ranks. An artist who has been working with live music since 1994, his release back catalogue includes labels like Tresor, Killekill, Snork Enterprises, TANSTAAFL, as well as collaborating with Neil Landstrumm and Janice.
“Flyby” opens with a stomping kick met with a throbbing bassline which is contrasted by captivating melody overtones that change mood to a dreamy and spacious, delicate journey of analogue emotion.
Second up, “Twister” has a thundering rhythm wrapped up in building tension and bouncing, modular textures that create an aggressive, heads down trip, with unrelenting techno power.
“Slider” closes the release with a more hypnotic approach, using static fuzz and quirky effects as its backdrop. A tight, swirling lead over a steady groove with skittering hi-hats add a sense of depth to this mind and body workout.

We have a lot in store for our friends and supporters of the label. When we debuted our SCENE event series 10 years ago at The Works we didn’t know that we would end up hosting over 50 SCENE events from 2011-2019. Over its course the series had the privilege to host countless great artists, make numerous Detroit debuts, and showcased a flavor of techno that we felt was unique to the series. The success of the events provided us with a number of unique opportunities to execute some of our ideas such as curating the Underground stage at Movement Electronic Music Festival and co-hosting events across the United States, Canada and Mexico. What an amazing time it was and a sincere thank you to everyone that was a part of those memories. As The Works era came to an end, we decided it was fitting to do the same for the SCENE event series. While we’re proud of what we’ve done we’re even more excited to announce what’s coming. We head into the future with the launch of a new event series: SECTOR. We have some great events planned throughout the remainder of 2021 and have made the Leland City Club (Official) the new home for the series. Our focus is on curating quality label events showcasing friends from around the world on a regular basis and most importantly working to keep that underground feel.
