Techno craftsman Andrei Morant holds a focus as sharp and abductive as his sound. A paramount figure in the Houston underground since the early 90s, the North American artist also known as Jack Mackrel quickly established himself as a professional. Morant started DJing in 1986, and only three years after his first gig in 1990, embarked on his production career. Over 50 releases later, he is now recognized world round for his catalog of insurgent beats, and is featured on respected labels such as Planet Rhythm Records, Starkstrom Schallplatten, and Gynoid Audio. Never faltering in his commitment to innovative techno, Morant unleashed a creature of his own machination – Scope Recordings. His new label and recent production endeavors reflect his weighty history, as well as his knowledge of avant media and style, resulting in a finely tailored, powerful impression.

For some people, Techno is not just music…. it’s a religion. For even fewer, this religion is the driving force that guides them in everything they do. ZIX is a pioneer amongst these people. With a style that never fails to get the dance floor pumping, ZIX has firmly established himself as one of the most revered techno DJs in Holland. People who follow ZIX come to see his performances knowing they will be taken on a journey. Those who aren’t are hooked the minute the first beat drops.

ZIX hails from the South of Holland. Named Ziggy, after David Bowie’s infamous alter ego Ziggy Stardust, ZIX was destined for a career in music. As a youth, he was exposed to an eclectic mixture of music. However, it was Steve Rachmad’s “Emerging” CD that first inspired him to play Techno. “It was a style and kind of set that I’d never heard before – very unique on its own. It totally blew me away with its depth and energy.” Immediately he embarked on a quest to create a sound of his own – personal, unique, and full of emotion.

With more than a decade of experience touring and playing festivals around the world, ZIX has established a reputation for igniting the dancefloor with his high energy sets. In April 2004, he joined the renowned DommelVallei organization as its first resident DJ and firmly established his relevance in the underground dance culture of the Netherlands. DommelVallei started as an underground Techno organization, throwing parties in warehouses, under freeway passes, in the woods – wherever it could – to give real techno lovers an alternative to the commercial music that was dominating parties and the airwaves at the time. The events have since taken on a life of their own, with classic parties such as the legendary AlleyGator parties at the Effenaar, PACT, the most popular Queen’s Day festival, and the E-troit Festival and parties.

The past few years have seen ZIX steadily on the rise, in high demand as well as emerging as a favorite DJ amongst global known entities. Remixes of his tracks are getting played around the globe. With his regular performances at Awakenings, the popular DommelVallei events and the BangTech12 bookings, ZIX is the one to keep an eye on.

Measure Divide is the new project of music producer Fahad Ahmad who is better known to us as one half of techno powerhouse duo Subfractal.  After working for more than five years pushing the envelope of Techno under the Subfractal moniker, he decided to start a new platform for his own expression.

His commitment to finding new and innovative techniques to produce groundbreaking techno led him to start this project.  After hearing the first few productions it comes without a doubt that Measure Divide is his channel to satisfy his thirst for earth shattering deeper, harder and darker techno.  The distorted sound design, rumbling low-end and big fluxes of synths are essential to his sound and are showcased in his productions.

Augustus Williams, aka Gusto is best defined by his pure Detroit sound, while incorporating funky house brought on by the memories of his childhood.  At an early age Gusto discovered a love for the Motown sound, but the music that captured him first was Hip Hop and the genuine style and funk infusions.  Through a new breed of Detroit promotions, the popular Detroit promoters ‘Nightsneak‘ would later become Gusto’s outlet to the Detroit scene soon becoming a local favorite.

Gusto began to direct his energy through drum machines and sequencers, often combining those efforts for a no less than impressive show. Playing mostly live shows for the better part of the last 11 years, people often forget he started out as a DJ.  In the studio his tracks are made with the DJ and the dance floor in mind, and with this production thought he has developed the sound that defines him as a truly unique artist. The rest is not history, but the future for this talented die hard as he continues to this day to kill dance floors with intense bass and funky hooks on that legendary Detroit sound he is known for.  Keep up with Gusto on Soundcloud and Beatport!
