The next podcast was recorded live at our recent Blank Code series event, Mike Gervais at Scene 17 on December 14th, 2014.  Mike Gervais hails from the old guard of Minneapolis.  With an ear for technical proficiency and a musical rhythm that spans wide and deep, Gervais has been pushing his sound through production, performances, and event promoting for the past 15 years.

In the 90’s Gervais started like most of his generation by stumbling onto a small underground techno scene.  The following years Gervais would produce events with global talent, perform all across North America, and start the label Timefog.  In 2012 Gervais launched his latest project SYSTEM and quickly established the event series as a top tier US techno circuit stop.  Gervais is now developing the launch of SYSTEM records, slated to begin releasing in early 2014.

With dedication and experience, Gervais has earned his reputation as a hardworking Midwest artist committed to delivering his sounds and ideas to audiences everywhere.  Follow Mike’s new music on Beatport and Soundcloud.

While the rest of the techno world may be more familiar with other artists from Minneapolis, in the city itself Centrific is considered one of the godfathers.  He has been DJing in Minneapolis and around the Midwest for nearly two decades, and has been throwing some of Minneapolis’ best events with various collaborators under the name Intellephunk for over 15 years.  He is just as likely to be seen up front dancing in front of the speakers as he is behind the decks himself.

As a DJ, Centrific can be called upon in many situations, whether it be darker warehouse techno at one of his Intellephunk showcases, or deep funky tech house at his open air Communion Sundays events.  As a producer, Centrific has released his music on Drop Bass, Aphrodisio, Communique Records, Dustin Zahn’s label Enemy Records, and most recently his original mix “U Pod” on EDEC.
