One of Iowa’s cornerstone techno promoters, producers, deejays & iconic inspirators. For 16 years Matt has been rocking the system both on the road & at home in Iowa. When he takes to the stage there’s no denying the fact that he blatantly performs with the sole intent of fueling a passion for groove that he embraces with 100% conviction & dedication. He’s had the pleasure of playing alongside some of the biggest techno players on the planet & has held his own while leaving Iowa’s mark on the global techno circuit as somewhere that is absolutely NOT to be overlooked. Locally, he’s at the forefront of a movement, leading with torch in hand… Nationally, he takes to a bigger stage with the means to completely steal any show.
As a producer, his initial debut was released on Chicago’s Zuvuya Recordings label with partner & good friend Mustafa Avdic leading to a spotlight on Music Man’s ‘I Love Techno 2007’ compilation mixed by none other than the legendary Dave Clarke. A few years later Dustin Zahn featured his own rework of their ‘Them Crocks’ stormer on an Enemy Recordings remix EP released digitally as well as on vinyl. His original tracks & remixes have been signed by Klientele & Giant Squid while as the head of his own Solar Cathedral Recordings digital imprint he’s put out 19 releases featuring artists from all over the globe. His original tunes have received plays & support from all corners of the world while being hammered in front of some of the most well versed techno aficionados on the floor. While DJ’ing is Matt’s strong suit, he plans to accelerate his studio efforts in hopes of releasing more original music over the course of the upcoming years.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, an interest in electronic music seemed only natural for Gabriele Schwarz aka Gabi. As a talented singer and pianist from a young age, Gabriele built her musicality upon a foundation of music theory, technique, and diligent practice. Upon discovering the underground techno scene Detroit had to offer as a teenager, she found a pair of cheap turntables and taught herself to mix vinyl.
Inspired by the minimalistic micro-house sounds of the city, Gabriele began expanding her love for electronic music to include a wide array of genre and talent. With such a diverse range of musical interest, her sets can fluctuate anywhere from progressive to minimal, finding her niche in melodic techhouse with a deep feel. Gabriele has come far since her debut in early 2011: her Detroit residencies currently include A U X E T I C, Cultured Citizens, and Detroit label Mintec Musik. Her involvement with the Girls Gone Vinyl project began in 2011 and has since connected her with many female dj’s and producers around the world. As she evolves into a producer herself, Gabriele now goes solely by her nickname, Gabi (pronounced Gāh-bee).

Today’s mix comes to us from local Detroit DJ/Producer Kero live at Abducted in Chicago’s Primary Night Club on March 9th, 2013. With over 20 releases on some of electronic music’s most celebrated and innovative labels such as Bpitch, Ghostly International and Shitkatapult and most recently Touchin’ Bass as well as his own critically acclaimed Detroit Underground Records, Kero has established a reputation for his unrepentantly brash, yet cultivated compositions and unforgettable live performances, most recently, alongside notables such as Speedy J, Ken Ishii and Funkstorung. Furthermore, he has established himself as a leader within the growing pack of electronic music producers successfully infiltrating contemporary art circles world wide.
His innovative approach to music, graphic design and video production feeds on the detritus of popular electronic culture, creating a montage of fleeting musical and visual experiences that are paradoxically critical and enamored with contemporary culture. Drawing on his experiences as a dual citizen of both Canada and the United States, Kero conducts visual and aural investigations that are concerned with ideas of the diametric and intermediary. Subsequently, the ephemeral nature of electronic culture, the “rave” experience and aesthetics offers a microcosm to explore similar elements in popular culture. The result is music that blurs genres from hip-hop to the most rarified of techno experiments, video art which stirs faint recollections of print and televised media, and a design language that has ingrained itself upon the most celebrated electro-cultural market in the world.
